Rex Boggs Photography is equipped to provide either digital or conventional film photography.
The difference:
- Over a century of research and development has created a range of great films. Film images offer the greatest tonal range and smoothest color changes. In many cases they also give the sharpest final images and greatest range of enlargement. The biggest factor though is in the higher cost - both production and finishing. Images requiring any type of retouching will have to be digitized (scanned). Images placed on CD and used as part of electronic layout will have to be scanned. Scanning adds additional cost and increases image degradation.
- Digital photography, although much newer and rapidly evolving, for most cases produces images that are visually indistinguishable from film. Digital imaging is prefered for subjects that are fast paced. Digital in most cases offers quicker turn around and lower production and finishing cost. Images that are digital are easier to retouch.
The choice is yours. We will advise you if there are technical limitations that favor one technology over the other.
